Helping kids become life long learners.

What We Do

Since 2022,  Path 2 Reading has formed partnerships with Title I elementary schools in Montgomery County MD.  We provide supplemental reading support to schools in order to close educational achievement gaps. Our goal is to ensure that services are customized to meet the specific needs of the school. Our services range from before school book clubs, in-classroom support, and to 1:1 tutoring.

P2R delivers effective educational products and services to school administrators, teachers, students, and parents, utilizing evidence-based strategies that achieve measurable results.

Student Success: P2R builds lasting relationships with schools through a collaborative approach, allowing schools to experience the tangible benefits of Path 2 Reading's services firsthand and, whenever possible, involves employing day school staff to deliver extended day services. These foundational principles have been key to Path 2 Reading's achievements.

Our Approach

We offer personalized reading sessions and mentorship in small group settings.

Before-School Book Clubs

Our before-school breakfast book club is a fun and interactive time. Students engage with culturally diverse literature which is the crux of our program. The characters look like them and the themes are relatable. The conversations are dynamic!

In 1990, Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop published an essay about the importance of providing young readers with diverse books that reflect the “multicultural nature of the world” in which we live.

When books don’t serve as mirrors to children, Bishop says, “They learn a powerful lesson about how they are devalued in society.”

In addition to studying diverse books, in our program each student is given the book at the end of the study to build their own home library.

In Classroom Support

We implement strategies to help improve students’ comprehension by encouraging them to:

  • Make connections between the readers’ experiences and the text

  • Predict what will happen next

  • Visualize the scenes, characters, and setting to remember what is being read

  • Monitor one’s understanding while reading

  • Retell and summarize what the story was about

  • Engage students in academic discourse about what they are learning and reading

Social-Emotional Activities

Social development refers to a child's ability to create and sustain meaningful relationships with adults and other children. Emotional development is a child's ability to express, recognize, and manage his or her emotions, as well as respond appropriately to others' emotions.

P2R proudly uses Reading with Relevance curriculum. RWR has been approved by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning. (CASEL) is the leading authority in the advancement of SEL in education. as one of their few academically-integrated SEL programs — certifying the curriculum as a well-designed, evidence-based social and emotional learning program.

Why Choose P2R?

We're dedicated to helping kids love reading and learning.

Tailored Support

P2R offers supplement support to what is already happening in the classroom. We work with teachers to offer personalize reading plans for individual student instruction.

Focus on Development

Students who are not proficient readers  will not have access to the larger resources and opportunities of society.  P2R's focus is on reading fluency and comprehension.  Enhancing reading skills helps build confidence and social-emotional competency.

Encouraging Learning
